Among the new vendors debuting outside Saturday at the Grants Pass Growers Market was Gold Lick Farms, a small operation near Ruch that grows mostly lettuce inside a converted shipping container.

The plants are grown in water, a method called aquaponic farming, on movable walls within the shipping container, said farmer Corey Wessel, whose large family recently moved to the Applegate Valley area from Colorado.
