MERLIN — After a year off, Airport Day returned to the Grants Pass Airport on Saturday, bringing planes, helicopters and hundreds of people to Hampshire Field in Merlin.

The Flinders family of Grants Pass were just getting off a shuttle bus from parking at the nearby Oregon Army National Guard Armory when four rappelers from the Siskiyou Rappel Base climbed out of a helicopter and down onto the airport runway.
