Soon after moving to Grants Pass in 1976, Wayne Owen and his wife Bunny saw a notice in the newspaper about the opening of a new martial arts studio that was looking for students and instructors.

Wayne answered the call, and he was there when Bill Shaw Kung Fu Karate opened its doors at Fifth and J streets.
